  • FMA APPLAUDS CONGRESSIONAL STRIDES TOWARD 1.9 PERCENT FEDERAL PAY RAISE IN 2019 - October 4, 2018
  • Alexandria, VA – A report in The Washington Post announced congressional Republicans have reached a tentative deal to provide for a 1.9 percent across-the-board pay raise to federal employees in 2019. Additional reporting noted Democrats have concerns with “partisan riders” unrelated to the pay raise, and have not accepted the deal. Federal Managers Association (FMA) National President Renee Johnson made the following comments on the latest developments:

    "We are optimistic by today’s reports that congressional Republicans have agreed in principle to a 1.9 percent pay raise for the federal workforce in 2019. Congress budgeted for a pay raise for many employees as part of the minibus passed late last month, contingent upon the raise being provided for all other agencies. At the very least, today’s news further illustrates the positive signs I noted last week about broad bipartisan support for a pay raise for our country’s dedicated public servants.

    “I understand many have concerns about other provisions of the proposed deal, and negotiations are ongoing. FMA and our members are grateful to members of Congress on both sides of the aisle who have pushed for the pay raise, and will continue to actively work to urge Congress to include the raise as part of the final package when lawmakers return to Washington, D.C., following next month’s elections.”
