  • USDA WILL NOT SEE FURLOUGHS - May 24, 2013
  • No furloughs at Agriculture through September

    Due to budget cuts in fiscal year 2013, the Department of Agriculture (USDA) is able to avoid furloughs through September 2013. Members of Congress granted USDA the ability to shift departmental funding, preventing 4,800 employees from being furloughed. In April 2013, USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack warned elected officials the department faced at most ten days of furloughs on top of a 2.5 percent reduction in budgetary funding, as well as sequester cuts.
