BIPARTISAN BUDGET PLAN GETS HOUSE APPROVAL - December 13, 2013
House passes bipartisan budget deal
By Kellie Lunney, Government Executive
By a vote of 332-94, the House of Representatives passed the Bipartisan Budget Act, H.J.Res. 59, a two-year spending plan, setting limits at $85 billion. While current federal employees came out unaffected by the bill, those hired after December 31, 2013, will contribute 4.4 percent of their salary to their pension contribution. This increase will result in $6 billion in savings. The bill moves to the Senate for approval in that chamber.
