The annual week to honor and acknowledge the nation’s 23 million public servants, including all federal managers, was marked by a statement from the Office of Personnel Management and a congressional resolution offered by Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA). “We are tremendously grateful to our federal employees and recognize their commitment to public service,” said OPM Acting Director Chuck Ezell. “During Public Service Recognition Week, we especially recognize federal employees as the backbone of a functioning government and this strong nation.” Rep. Connolly, the Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, introduced a resolution in the House, cosponsored by 14 members of Congress. “Public servants, including our incredible federal employees, are our nation’s unsung heroes,” said Ranking Member Connolly. “They ensure the safety of the food we eat, the prescription drugs we take, the air we breathe, and the water we drink. They make sure that Social Security checks arrive on time, protect us from foreign adversaries, keep our air travel safe, and perform thousands of other critical functions that directly impact the quality of our lives. During this Public Service Recognition Week, when public servants are under unprecedented attack, we should all take the opportunity to thank our federal employees, and every public servant, for their dedicated service to communities across America.” On behalf of the FMA National Office, we salute all FMA members and civil servants across the country for your noble service on behalf of all Americans. |
