  • COLA Count Hits 2.2 Percent after Eight Months - June 20, 2023

    Eight months into the counting period toward the January 2024 federal retirement cost of living adjustment, the count stands at 2.2 percent, following an increase in May of 0.2 percentage points in the inflation index used to set that adjustment.

    That brought the count within the range in which a reduction would apply to FERS retirees who are eligible for COLAs (generally not until age 62 unless retired under one of the special retirement systems with mandatory retirement at an earlier age).
